Rochester, Minn. – New indictments unsealed by the U.S. Justice Department Thursday include charges of two Rochester women with raising money for the Jihadist group, al-Shabaab. Those charges surprised many in the Rochester Somali community.
Austin, Minn. – More than a dozen workers who contracted a rare illness at a southern Minnesota meat-processing plant are caught up in a complex and sometimes slow-moving workers’ compensation system.
The workers were among 21 employees at Quality Pork Processing in Austin diagnosed two years ago with a neurological disease that health officials later found resulted from breathing tiny bits of pig brains. The workers, including some who were working in the United States illegally, made claims for medical expenses and lost wages.
